Hello Again, Dolly! Festival Kicks Off in Hudson Highlands

The long-awaited 50th Anniversary Hello Again, Dolly! community-wide festival in Peekskill, Garrison, Cold Spring, and West Point kicks off this month as these Hudson river towns celebrate their shared cultural history through the lens of a delightful major Hollywood motion picture. For six months, there will be celebrations in these Hudson Rivertowns, where the 1968 film Hello, Dolly! was filmed. The renowned film musical, starring Barbra Streisand and Walter Matthau, was directed by legendary Hollywood musical star Gene Kelly, who discovered the charming hamlet of Garrison-on-Hudson (“Yonkers” in the film) on a location scouting tour. 5 Questions: Tommy Tune

Tommy Tune, 79, who has won 10 Tony Awards as a Broadway dancer, director and choreographer, will lead a parade at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, at Garrison’s Landing to mark the 50th anniversary of the filming there of Hello, Dolly! The next day, he will perform Tommy Tune Tonight at the Paramount Hudson Valley. Donna Murphy is back where she belongs!

NEW YORK, NY – JUNE 13: Donna Murphy takes her first bow in the Tony Award-Winning Broadway revival of “Hello, Dolly!” at Shubert Theatre on June 13, 2017 in New York City. (Photo by Noam Galai/Getty Images for Hello, Dolly!)

Donna Murphy will return to the Broadway hit Hello, Dolly! for six performances during Bette Midler’s upcoming limited run, repeating the mostly once-a-week schedule that Murphy performed during Midler’s first go-round with the show last year.

Hello, Patti! Keep Dolly on Broadway where She Belongs!

Hello, Patti! It has been announced that Hello, Dolly! is scheduled to close on Broadway on August 24th after a run of 14 months. The original ran for seven years with Carol Channing, Ginger Rogers, Martha Raye, Betty Grable, Pearl Bailey, Phyllis Diller, and Ethel Merman running for seven years.

Add to that list with the magnificent CURRENT revival: Bette Midler, Donna Murphy, and Bernadette Peters. I am thrilled that Bette Midler is returning for the summer but disappointed to read it will close in August. Betty Buckley is leading a National tour starting in the autumn.

I would like to see this show run a little longer and Patti LaBelle is the one to make that happen! Sign the petition and share! Maybe we can convince Patti LaBelle, Scott Rudin, and Jerry Zaks to keep this landmark musical on the boards!
